I have been writing since I was young. I almost had a story, deftly illustrated by my mom, published in Cricket Magazine when I was in third grade, but the deal never went down. In college I wrote poems, short stories, and film and music pieces for the Indiana Daily Student, most of which are compiled here. Most of all, I'm an interview fanatic. My undergraduate major was inspired by BOMB Magazine’s in-depth, interdisciplinary, conversational arts interview model, and I eventually interned with them and conducted a few myself. Nowadays, I also talk to random strangers on the street. It started at the Chicago Tribune’s Redeye and Metromix, and continued at the Portland Mercury. And for the time being, I'll be writing my master's thesis on tropicália and Brazilian popular music.
